Robert Peel

Robert formed The Marketing Edge in 1992 to provide specialist marketing advice and services to hi-tech companies working with the GIS, mobile computing and transport/logistics sectors. Robert ran a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) company in the late 1980s and was later Head of Marketing at Datatrak where he launched the world’s first commercial vehicle tracking system. Robert advises on marketing communications ensuring companies get the best return on their marketing expenditure and he heads the day to day PR activities as the primary contact with the press. A creative thinker, Robert provides ideas to boost the profile of companies a give them a competitive edge through highly cost effective marketing communications.

Faith Clark

Faith is an expert in marketing communications with specialist knowledge of geographic information and systems, mapping and the use of technology in the public and private sectors. Faith has a degree in GIS and extensive experience within the GIS and remote sensing market. Her expertise is event management, PR and writing articles and contributes regularly to key publications. In the early days of street level mapping, she helped to market a unique technology that paired video with GPS to provide stereoscopic 3D images. This was an important forerunner to the advanced 3D laser mapping systems seen today such as Streetmapper. Following a short spell at Dataview Solutions Faith spent eight years at GeoInformation Group, where she was instrumental in helping the company winning a Millennium Product award. She also developed and launched the popular GeoDATA educational events.

Andrea Schmitz

Andrea heads our European PR activities. Fluent in German, Spanish and French, Andrea is an experienced marketing professional and PR specialist. Located in Munich, Andrea was originally with Siemens Nixdorf and became a specialist in Geomatics marketing as International Communications Manager at AED-SICAD. A respected press writer in the GIS/Geomatics field, Andrea also offers marketing help to small and medium-sized IT companies and has a partner network in Germany to provide graphic design, web design, photography and event organisation.

Iestyn Armstrong-Smith

Iestyn previously edited Automatic ID News Europe, Frontline Solutions (Europe), IT Reseller, Manufacturing & Logistics IT and Logistics Business IT. His technical knowledge includes AIDC/auto ID, rugged mobile computing, manufacturing and logistics software, telematics and the various environments in which these are applied. His skills range from writing and editing for print and web to assisting with the development of materials and media for marketing campaigns. Iestyn manages forward features, keeping editors up to date with relevant information, providing expert comment and submissions. He writes articles for a range of publications and is recognised for making technical, often difficult, topics easy to understand.

Sharon Gill

Sharon is well respected in the field of transport/logistics, telematics and technology having previously been the editor of eyefortransport, Telematics Update and TheWhereBusiness. Sharon was also a correspondent for Heavy Lift & PFI magazine, and a contributor to many other publications focusing on the transport & logistics and supply chain industries. Her technical knowledge earned her a six-year stint as a weekly columnist for a number of IT publications, as well as a sub-editor for players in the geo-connected mobility sector. Her expertise in PR and marketing was gained with Authentic Ideas in South Africa, where she spent twelve years working on major projects and events. She is also an accredited press photographer. Sharon manages our forward features, liaises with editors and provides professional comment and submissions. She is recognised for her ability to translate overly technical jargon into easy to understand articles.

Mark was previously Managing Director of Mayrise Systems, a software company which he successfully sold to a multinational plc in 2013. Having built Mayrise from fledgling business in the 1990’s to a respected market leader in asset and contract management systems, Mark brings invaluable experience in commercial business management. He can offer advice on how to build a business from start-up all the way through to successful sale. As well as a thorough understanding of municipal and highways contracted services sector, Mark is brings specific experience of sales and marketing strategy.
